Quite a gloom was cast over Deloraine when the news came through that Private Arthur Radford had been killed in the Dardanelles. Deceased was a son of Mr. F. Radford, of Parkham, one of the best known and respected families in the district. The late Private Radford had not any previous military experience, but was one of the first to offer his services to his country. He was exceedingly popular throughout the district being of a very quiet and unassuming disposition. He took a great interest in cricket, and was a wicketkeeper of more than average ability. The sincerest sympathy is felt throughout the district for his relatives. The Examiner 25th May 1915
