Reardon, Robert Lambert

 

Born 27th August 1895 Sorell Tasmania the son of John Alfred and Annie Josephine Reardon (nee Green) a labourer he embarked Melbourne 30th September 1916 on board “HMAT Suffolk” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was killed in action 5th May 1918 in France and is commemorated in the Outtersteene Communal Cemetery Extension, Bailleul, Nord, France

 

Mrs. J. Reardon of Glenorchy has received a letter from Chaplain Hayden of the I2th Battalion, with reference to the death of her son, Private R. L. Reardon. He says:-

"Private Reardon was in the front line, and an enemy shell (high explosive) burst near him killing him instantly. His body was brought to the military cemetery near Strazele in Flanders. I buried him in the above cemetery and a cross has been erected on his grave. The Commanding Officer wishes me to express to you our respects and sincere sympathy in your great loss, together with the prayers that God in His mercy will give to you and all sorrowing relatives the comfort and strength you need."
