If you could spare a few dollars to help with the running costs of hosting this website to keep it alive would be very much appreciated.

Thankyou from Gravesites of Tasmania in advance.

Richardson, George Charles

Born 1894 Nugent Tasmania the son of Charles Ephraim and Ada Jane Richardson (nee Hayes) a labourer he embarked Melbourne 6th December 1916 on board “HMAT Orsova” with the 40th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 2nd October 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated on the  Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, West-Vlaanderen, Flanders, Belgium

Recently Mrs W Hayes received word from Base Records Office that her nephew Private George Richardson had given his life in the great cause.  The news of his death was received with sorrow.  “Sandy” was our youngest soldier and except for a few years absence during childhood had lived in Nugent all his life.
