Roberts, Norman Charles
Born 26th May 1890 Woodsdale Tasmania the son of George and Frances Roberts (nee Stocks) a blacksmith married he embarked Melbourne 27th September 1915 on board “HMAT Hororata” with the 1st Australian Clearing Hospital. He returned to Australia 29th January 1916 on board “HMAT Suffolk” and was admitted to the General Hospital Hobart after contracting Typhoid fever. He returned to duty 17th April 1916 on board “HMAT Ballarat” out of Melbourne. He was killed in action 29th September 1918 in France and is commemorated in the Templeux-le-Guerard British Cemetery, Templeux-le-Guerard, Somme, France News has been received that Private Norman Roberts has been killed in action. He was the youngest son of George and the late Frances Roberts of Woodsdale. Private Roberts left Tasmania in 1915 and was returned home on furlough after a severe attack of enteric fever about 12 months later. After serving about 12 months in the Military Police at Claremont he returned to the front. He leaves a wife and two young children. The Weekly Courier 17th October 1918
