If you could spare a few dollars to help with the running costs of hosting this website to keep it alive would be very much appreciated.

Thankyou from Gravesites of Tasmania in advance.

Robertson, Edwin Thomas

Born 1882 Deloraine Tasmania a farmer from Harford Tasmania who listed his brother Tasman Robertson as his next of kin  he embarked Adelaide 10th February 1917 on board “HMAT Seang Bee” with the 40th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 5th October 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated in the Tyne Cot Cemetery.

The Rev. R. Weld Thomas, Latrobe, yesterday conveyed to Cr. D. Robertson of Harford, the information that his brother, Private Edwin Thomas Robertson, had been killed in action in France on October 5th.

Private Robertson left with the 7th reinforcements for the 40th Battalion and could not have been long in the firing line, as recent letters received stated that he expected shortly to be leaving England for the front. General sympathy is expressed with the family. It was only on June 8 last that they received word of the death of another brother (Albert George) while fighting for the Empire.
