Robertson, Harry

 

Born 1894 Sprent Tasmania the son of William Fraser and Mary Elizabeth Robertson (nee Wright) a farm labourer he embarked Fremantle 25th June 1915 on board “HMAT Wandilla” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. 

He was killed in action 6th April 1917 in France and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux France. 

His brother Pte Leslie Ernest Robertson was killed in action 25th April 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial Gallipoli Turkey

Mr. W F Robertson of Sprent has received intimation that his son, Pte. Harry Robertson was killed in action during the fighting from 6th to 10th April. He left Tasmania two years ago with the 6th Reinforcements for the 12th Battalion; he was in Gallipoli, where he contracted enteric and was invalided to England for some time, and then rejoined his comrades in the trenches. His brother Pte. Les E. Robertson, who took part in the memorable landing on April 25, 1915, was killed in action yesterdays News was received from the Commonwealth Defence Department;
