Robertson, Leslie Ernest
Born 30th January 1887 Ulverstone Tasmania to William Fraser and Mary Elizabeth Robertson (nee Wright) a blacksmith who departed Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 25th April 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey. KILLED IN ACTION. Pte. L. E. Robertson, son of Mr. W. F. Robertson, Sprent who left Tasmania with the First Expeditionary Force, and took part in the landing at Gallipoli, was reported wounded on June 20 but later on a cable received by his parents, stated he was reported missing. All doubts as to his fate was removed on Saturday when a message was received from the Defence Department advising that he was killed in action on April 28 just three days after he landed.
