Robson, Thomas Keith Macleod

 

Born 22nd November 1895 Launceston Tasmania the son of Thomas Kentish and Mary Frederica Robson (nee MacLeod) a clerk he embarked Melbourne 2nd February 1915 on board “HMAT Clan McGillivray” with the 15th Infantry Battalion. 

He was killed in action 9th May 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula, Canakkale Province, Turkey

At the annual meeting of the Launcestons Military Cadet Association yesterday afternoon sympathy was expressed with the Hon Secretary, Mrs. Robson in the loss sustained by her through her eldest son having been killed in the Gallipoli campaign. The following letter to Mrs. Robson from Captain L. Matthews.Donaldson, Private Secretary to the Governor,Sir W. Ellison Macartney was read:

"I am desired by His Excellency to write and thank you for your letter His Excellency asks me to convey to you his deepest sympathy for the great loss you have sustained in the loss of your eldest son who so nobly gave his life, upholding  that teaching which the Cadets' Association is instilling in the present military cadets. It was a great source of pleasure to his Excellency that he was able to be present on the occasion of the commemoration."
