Studio portrait of 4596 Private (Pte) Leslie Oscar Rollins wearing glasses, 14th Reinforcements, 12th Battalion, of Hobart, Tas. Pte Rollins enlisted on 20 September 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Warilda on 8 February 1916. On 2 April 1917 he was killed in action at Noreuil in the Bapaume area of France, aged twenty. Leslie's grandfather (his next of kin) states on his Roll of Honour circular that "He was a smart, earnest, christian young man. Rejected four times, he put himself into training, made himself fit and passed on the fifth examination. 

News came to hand on Friday evening that Private Leslie Oscar Rollin, of 52nd Infantry Battalion, A.I.F., aged 21 had been killed on active service in France. Private Rollins enlisted some time in September, 1915, in his 19th year, and left Tasmania on New Year's Day, 1916, aged 20. He was the grandson of Mr and Mrs. Thos. I. and M. A. Roberts, North Hobart. Private Rollins was employed by Messrs. Charles Davis Ltd. for three year and four months. He was much respected by them, and was among the first to enlist for active service abroad from their employ.
