Rule, James Campbell

 

 

 

Born 1893 Portland Tasmania the son of Thomas Edwin and Marion Margaret Rule (nee Campbell) a clerk he embarked Adelaide 1st April 1915 on board “HMAT Port Lincoln” with the 12th Infantry Battalion

 

He was killed in action 7th August 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated in the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula Turkey

 

The employes in the correspondence branch of the General Post Office Hobarthave subscribed and obtained n fine photo enlargement of a former colleague, James Campbell Rule, a son of Mr. Rule, the bench clerk at Hobart. The photograph bears the following inscription :— 'James Campbell Rule, killed in action at the Dardanelles, 1915. They never fail who die in a great cause
