Born 1896 Ringarooma Tasmania the son of John and Lydia Sarah Rushton (nee Williams) a labourer he embarked Melbourne 18th February 1916 on board “HMAT Ballarat” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was serving with the 52nd Battalion when he was killed in action 3rd September 1916 at Pozieres France and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, Villers-Bretonneux Area, France
