Russell, William Hedley

 

 

Born 1896 Deloraine Tasmania the son of William and Emily Rowena Russell (nee Bradmore) a labourer he embarked 13th December 1915 on board “HMAT Ajana” with the 26th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was living and working at Yambacoona King Island when he enlisted.

 

Lance Corporal Russell was serving with the 52nd Battalion when he was killed in action 28th March 1917 at Baupaume and is commemorated in the Queant Road Cemetery, Buissy, Pas de Calais, France
