Sale, Robert Henry Moodkee

 

Born Brisbane Queensland the son of the Reverend George Augustus and Mabel Florence Sale but living in Avoca Tasmania where he was a post office clerk who embarked Adelaide 24th June 1915 on board “HMAT Kanowna” with the 12th Infantry Battalion

 He was killed in action 19th September 1917 and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.He was killed in action 19th September 1917 and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium

 

General regret was expressed at Avoca when it became known that Private Robert Sale had been killed in action in France. The deceased soldier was the youngest son of the Rev. Sale who was rector of St. Thomas' Church for a short time and who is now in Fiji. Prior to enlisting Private Sale was assistant in the Avoca Post Office and was a member of the Anglican choir.
