Salisbury Percy Archibald

 

Born Stonehouse Devonport England to James and Sophia Salisbury and married to Bessie Snell.  He joined the navy at the age of 12 and was serving as a Shipwright 2nd Class on board “HMS Defence” during the Battle of Jutland when she was hit by two heavy salvoes in quick succession, and Admiral Sir Robert Arbuthnot and his flagship disappeared in a roar of flame

 

Shipwright Salisbury drowned in the North Sea 31st May 1916 and

is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
