If you could spare a few dollars to help with the running costs of hosting this website to keep it alive would be very much appreciated.

Thankyou from Gravesites of Tasmania in advance.

Saunders Colin Thomas

He was born 15th April 1893 Westbury to John and Caroline Saunders (nee Jones) a labourer who departed Brisbane 24th September 1914 on board “HMAT Omrah” with the 9th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 25th April 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.

Last week word was conveyed by the Rev. J. J. Webb to Mr. and Mrs. J.Saunders, of Liffey, that their son, Private Colin Saunders, who had been reported missing, was killed on Gallipoli on April 25, 1915. Private Saunders, who belonged to the famous 3rd Brigade was one of the first to enlist. It is only a few weeks since Mr. and Mrs Saunders received the news of the death of their elder son, Sergeant-Major Leslie Saunders, warrant officer, who was killed in action in France. The last named officer served through the whole of the Gallipoli campaign, from the landing to the evacuation. He went to France in March of this year, and served there in all the engagements the Anzacs fought till August 22. He was three times promoted.
