Scolyer, Frank Harold
Born 18th November 1883 Bishopsbourne Tasmania to Richard and Elizabeth Scolyer (nee Frost) a labourer who departed Melbourne 24th November 1914 on board RMS Orontes with the 15th Infantry Battalion. He was admitted to hospital with a gunshot wound to the back and cheek on the 6th September 1918 and died on the 25th September 1918. He was buried in the St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France. Word has been received that Private F. H. Scolyer died of wounds on September 25. On the latter date he was notified as being 'dangerously wounded' on September 9, and was admitted to hospital in France. The deceased soldier had seen much fighting, and had previously been wounded. It was three years last August since he and his twin brother enlisted. Another brother, Richard, was killed in action at Pozieres in August, 1916. Still another brother, Bert, has been invalided home, he having been seriously wounded in the head. They were sons of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. Scolyer, of Devonport.
