Scott, Henry Thomas

 

Born 8th July 1894 Kelso Roxburgshire Scotland the son of John Newton and Mary Nisbet Scott (nee Wilson) a fruit merchant living at Commercial Road New Town he embarked Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 12th Infantry Battalion

 

He was killed in action 25th April 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula, Canakkale Province, Turkey

Official news has been received that Private H. T. Scott, 12th Battalion (reported missing), was killed at Gallipoli between April 25 and 28, 1915. He was in camp at Hobart on defence duty when war was proclaimed being corporal in the 93rd Derwent Infantry, and volunteered for active service, being among the first to do so. He was at the landing at Gallipoli on April 25 and was officially reported missing on June 17, 1915. His next of kin is Mrs. Mary Scott of 304 Argylc Street, Hobart.
