Scott, Lewis George
Born 6th September 1893 Launceston Tasmania to George Alexander and Katherine Elizabeth Scott (nee Cundy) a printer who departed Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.
Promoted to Lance Corporal 25rd March 1916, to Coporal 9th June 1916 and then to sergeant 11th August 1916
Spent 7 months at Gallipoli and was fighting in France when he was killed in action 13th April 1917. He is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. Advice has been received in Devonport that between April 6 and April 10 Sergeant L. G. Scott of Devonport, a son of Mr. G. A. Scott, was killed in action. He was. 22 years of age, and the second of the family who has made the supreme sacrifice. He left Tasmania with the first contingent, and saw service in Gallipoli as stretcher bearer. He had been a member of the Devonport Band and Devonport Football Club and was employed when he enlisted by the ‘North West Post’. The North Western Advocate 3rd May 1917
