Scott, Norman Roy
Born 21st. March 1887 Launceston Tasmania to George Alexander and Katherine Elizabeth Scott (nee Cundy) who departed Melbourne 27th September 1915 on board “HMAT Hororata” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 3rd September 1916 and buried Courcelette British Cemetery, France
Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Scott, of Harold Street Devonport, last night received intelligence that their third son, Lance- Corporal N.R (Roy) Scott, had been killed in action in France on Sept 3 or 4. Prior to embarking 18 months ago Lance-Corporal Scott was manager of the Riana branch of the Emu Bay Co's butter factory, was a member of the Burnie band and a Past Arch of the Burnie U.A.C.D. He held the rank of sergeant; he enlisted as a private in order to get away, and was soon promoted. Originally he was a member of the 12th Battalion. He trained in Egypt, and went to France with the first Australian troops. He was in his 28th year. Mr. and Mrs. Scott, who some years ago resided at Burnie, have another son, Private L. Scott, on active service in France, he having left with the first party of Devonport volunteers at the commencement of the war. The North Western Advocate 5th October 1916
