Searle, Ray Vernon
Born 1895 Breadalbane Tasmania the son of George and Elizabeth Annie Searle (nee Dando) a labourer he embarked Melbourne 27th September 1915 on board “HMAT Hororata” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He was serving with the 52nd Battalion when he was killed in action 23rd August 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated in the Bethleem Farm West Cemetery, Belgium. His brother Pte Frank Vivian Searle (No 391) died 30th August 1915 from wounds received on the Gallipoli Peninsula and was buried in the Beach Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.
