Sharman, Norton John Randolph

 

 

 

Born 28th March 1891 Beulah Tasmania the son of Charles Burton and Clara Sharman (nee Jupp) a mechanic he embarked Melbourne 22nd December 1914 on board “HMAT Ceramic” with the 15th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 9th August 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula, Canakkale Province, Turkey

Mrs. John Atkinson of Kimberley received a telegram from the Defence Department on Saturday that her son, Private Norton Sharman, had been missing since August 7. Private Sharman was among the first to land at the Dardanelles, and up till about six weeks ago he was quite well and in good spirits. His mother is anxiously awaiting further news. A younger son Clifford is also on his way to the Dardanelles if he is not there already
