ELLIOTT. Death of Private Shepperd. Deepest regret was expressed when the sad news was made known of the death in England of one of our most popular young men in the person of Private Alfred Shepperd. The sad tidings came as a severe shock to the whole community. His sterling qualities and bright nature endeared him to very many friends. Private Shepperd had not long reached England when he contracted pleuro-influenza, which unfortunately ended fatally. The very deepest sympathy of all goes out to the bereaved brothers and sisters in their sad time of trouble. The Advocate Burnie 25th January 1919
