Silva, George Henry
Born 1898 Flowerpot Tasmania the son of Arthur Silva a farmer he embarked Sydney 14th June 1917 on board “HMAT Hororata” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 23rd April 1918 in France and is commemorated in the Meteren Military Cemetery, Meteren, Nord Pas de Calais, France. Mr and Mrs Silva of Flowerpot have received the sad news of their youngest son’s death. Private George Silva was killed in action in France on April 23rd. He enlisted in September 1916 at the age of 18 years and left Claremont in June 1917 with reinforcements for the 40th Battalion. Only a few weeks before Private Silva was ill in hospital with pleurisy and his parents thought that he was still in England when news of his death came.
