 Informal portrait of 3661 Private Leonard Ernest Smart, 26th Battalion. A tinsmith of Hobart, Tas, he enlisted on 1 October 1915 and sailed with the 8th Reinforcements aboard HMAT Afric on 5 January 1916. He was killed in action, aged 19, on 14 November 1916. He is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France
