Smillie James Steel

Born 19^th November 1889 Launceston Tasmania to Robert and Susan Smillie (nee Cute) who departed Sydney 17^th March 1915 on board “HMAT Shropshire” with the 4^th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 6^th August 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
