Smith, Albert Edwin
The son of Henry Smith Eastbourne Street Melbourne, a timber worker living at Cgynet Tasmania who enlisted in Tasmania he embarked Hobart 1st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion.
PORT CYGNET SOLDIER KILLED Mr W. H. Smith of Nicholls Rivulet has just been officially notified that his son Private Albert Smith has been killed in action in France Of the many soldiers who have enlisted from this small community Private Smith, who was only about 22 years of age, was the first to make the supreme sacrifice and for this reason .the news caused quite a gloom in the district.
