Smith, Alfred Louis

Born Ross Tasmania the son of Alfred and Mary Ann Smith of “Verwood” Ross Tasmania a labourer he embarked Melbourne on board “HMAT Ulysses” with the 40^th Infantry Battalin.

He was killed in action 4^th October 1917 by machine gun fire at Ypres and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
