Smith, Alfred Louis
Born Ross Tasmania the son of Alfred and Mary Ann Smith of “Verwood” Ross Tasmania a labourer he embarked Melbourne on board “HMAT Ulysses” with the 40th Infantry Battalin. He was killed in action 4th October 1917 by machine gun fire at Ypres and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
