Smith, George Herbert
Born Clifton Valley Victoria but living in Launceston Tasmania the son of Charles John and Mary Jane Smith a labourer he embarked Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.
He served Gallipoli and was appointed Lance Corporal in France on the 22nd September 1916
He died 11th December 1916 at the 38th Casualty Clearing Station France from multiple gunshot wounds and is commemorated in the Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L'Abbe, Peronne, Picardie, France
