Sowby, William
Born Hobart Tasmania the son of Alfred and Louisa Sowby a coachsmith he embarked Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He served on the Gallipoli Peninsula and was appointed Corporal 1st March 1916 and in the same month transferred to the 52nd Battalion. He was admitted to the 4th Australian Field Ambulance with a gunshot wound to the head and was transferred to the 30th General Hospital 6th April 1918 and died on the 19th April 1918. He was buried in the Les Baraques Military Cemetery, Sangatte, Calais, France
