Spilsbury, Edgar Norman
Born Bombay India the son of Major Edgar Charles and Caroline Anne Spilsbury (nee Fulton) a farm hand living in Queensland he embarked Brisbane 24th September 1914 on board “HMAT Omrah” with the 9th Infantry Battalion. His parents were still living at East Devonport when he enlisted and he had served in the Tasmanian Volunteer Forces with the rank of Lieutenant up until 1907. Two younger brothers also served and both returned home in 1919. He was killed in action 2nd May 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula, Canakkale Province, Turkey
