Stagoll Thomas Ernest

 

 

 

Born 27th July 1886 Longford Tasmania to Elizabeth Stagoll a labourer who departed Melbourne 17th June 1915 on board “HMAT Wandilla” with the 7th Infantry Battalion.

 

It was reported

“Was called Mick.  He was killed on the 18th August 1916 at Pozieres, second time into Pozieres near the windmill.  Casualty was killed after a charge.  He was on top of the parapet digging in, when I saw him fall, shot through the heart by a bullet.  His body lay there for three days” H. A. Mancarrow No 5157

 He is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
