STAGOLL, WALTER WILLIAM
Studio portrait of 3356 Private (Pte) Walter William Stagoll, 7th Reinforcements, 26th Battalion, of Derby, Tas, aged 21 years. Pte Stagoll enlisted on 7 September 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ajana on 13 December 1915. He later served as a lance corporal and was killed in action on 23 August 1918 in France, whilst serving with the 12th Battalion.
The rector of Scottsdale (Rev. C. W Wilson) had on Wednesday the sad task of conveying to Mrs. Stagoll the message that her son, Private Walter William Stagoll had been killed in action in France on the 23rd August. The deceased soldier was about 23 years of age and enlisted in December, 1916. One brother (Private T. B. Stagoll) fell in action about two years ago, and another is in the firing line in Palestine.
