Stephens, Herbert Stanley
Born 31st July 1893 Launceston Tasmania to Thomas and Adelza Stephens (nee Abel) a fireman he embarked Brisbane 29th June 1915 on board “HMAT Aeneas” with the 26th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 5th August 1916 and is commemorated in the Albert Communal Cemetery Extension, France. Word has been received from the Defence Department that Pte. Herbert Stanley (Stan) Stephens, son of Mr. T Stephens of Launceston has been killed in action. Pte. Stephens left for the front i' May, 1915 and had been in Egypt, Gallipoli, France and Belgium. He was formerly employed in the Government Railways Locomotive Department. The North Western Advocate 26th September 1916
