Stokes, John Joseph

 

 

Born 1890 Westbury Tasmania the son of Edward and Alice Stokes (nee Walters) a labourer he embarked Sydney 14th June 1917 on board “HMAT Hororata” with the 40th Battalion

 

He died 3rd July 1917 at sea on board “HMAT Hororata” from cerebral spinal meningitis and was buried at sea  He is commemorated on the Hollybrook Memorial, Southampton, Hampshire, United Kingdom
