Summers, Arthur Alfred

 

 

Born Launceston Tasmania married but living apart he listed his son Arthur Alfred Summers of 77 Hampton Road Battery Point as his next of kin.  He embarked Melbourne 2nd February 1915 on board “HMAT Clan McGillivray” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 

He served on the Gallipoli Peninsula and was appointed Lance Corporal 30th March 1917.

 

He was serving with the 3rd Field Company Engineers when he was killed in action 16th January 1918 at Messines and is commemorated in the  Messines Ridge British Cemetery, Messines, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
