Sumner, Charles
Born 1882 Campbell Town Tasmania the son of John and Anne Sumner (nee Kelly) a labourer who embarked Melbourne on board RMS Orontes with the 12th Infantry Battalion He was serving with the 52nd Battalion when he was killed in action 28th March 1917 in France and is commemorated in the Queant Road Cemetery, Buissy, France. SUMNER-In loving memory of our dear son Pte Charles Sumner, who was killed in France whilst rescuing a fallen comrade on the 28th March, 1917.
