Swift, John Alexander

Born 29th September 1870 Clarence Tasmania the son of Henry and Janet Swift (nee Ramsey) married to Sarah Dorothy Stowe a 45 year old plumber he embarked Melbourne 24th November 1915 on board RMS Orontes with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was killed in action 3-7th September 1916 at Pozieres and is commemorated in the Serre Road Cemetery France.

 

His son Pte Thomas William West Swift, 12th Battalion was also killed in action, 25 April 1915.
