Symons, Aubrey William John

Headstone in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery of 2912, Pte. Aubrey William John SYMONS (1890-1916) who died while on active service with the 26th. Battalion, AIF in Eygyt.

Born 1890 Noradjuha Victoria to John James and Jeanette Symons (nee Notley) a farmer who enlisted Claremont Tasmania and embarked Melbourne 27^th October 1915 on board “HMAT Ulysses” with the 26^th Infantry Battalion.

He died 20^th January 1916 at the 1^st Australian General Hospital Heliopolis Egypt from pneumonia and was buried in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
