Tarrant, Albert Edward

Born 22^nd November 1896 Lefroy Tasmania the son of Alfred and Caroline Tarrant (nee Newland) a schoolteacher who embarked Melbourne 10^th November 1915 on board “HMAT Ascanius” with the 12^th Infantry Battalion.

He was serving with the 13^th Company Australian Machine Gun Corps when he was killed in action 25^th September 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.

His brother Lance Corporal Alfred Ernest Tarrant (No 57) was killed in action 11^th November 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated in the Shell Green Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.
