Tarrant, Albert Edward
Born 22nd November 1896 Lefroy Tasmania the son of Alfred and Caroline Tarrant (nee Newland) a schoolteacher who embarked Melbourne 10th November 1915 on board “HMAT Ascanius” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He was serving with the 13th Company Australian Machine Gun Corps when he was killed in action 25th September 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium. His brother Lance Corporal Alfred Ernest Tarrant (No 57) was killed in action 11th November 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated in the Shell Green Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.
