Taylor, George Henry
Born 27th July 1888 Launceston Tasmania to Henry and Margaret Taylor (nee Illingworth, a farmer when he enlisted and was posted to the 12th Infantry Battalion departing Hobart 8th August 1916 on board “HMAT Ballarat” He was killed in action in France and buried where he fell near the village of La Barque and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. PTE. G. H. TAYLOR. PINE ROAD. Last evening the Rector of Devonport (Rev. G. A. Rowe) was called upon to inform Mr. and Mrs. Henry Taylor, of Northdown, that their son Pte. George Henry Taylor, had been killed in action in France on February 27. Pte. Taylor was only 27 years of age and was a member of the Famous Twelfth. Prior to enlistment in Tasmania he was a resident of Pine Road, Penguin where he followed farming pursuits and was a popular young man. Sympathy will he extended to the bereaved parents in their loss. The North Western Advocate 20th March 1917
