Taylor, William Young 

 

Studio portrait of 4080 Private (Pte) William Young Taylor, 47th Battalion, Unit name 15 Battalion, 12 Reinforcement, of Hobart, Tasmania.  Private Taylor enlisted on 30 August 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT RMS Orontes on 24 November 1915.  On 11 August 1916 he was wounded in action at Pozieres on the Western Front of France, gun shot wound to the shoulder and died of this wound on 22 August 1916 aged 20.  He is buried at Abbeville Communal Cemetery France.
