Pre-enlistment studio portrait of Percy Croft Templar, a farm hand of Sulphur Creek, Tasmania. 1078 Trooper Templar embarked on 17 June 1915 with the 3rd Australian Light Horse Regiment. He subsequently transferred to the 1st Field Artillery Brigade with the service number 1078A. On 15 October 1917, he received shot wounds to the shoulder and legs and died of these wounds at the 10th Casualty Clearing Station in Belgium.

On Saturday Mr and Mrs Templar of Sulphur Creek received the sad news that their son Gunner Percy Croft Templar had died at the 10th Casualty Station from multiple gunshot wounds received in action on October 15. The deceased had been on active service nearly three years, and had seen much fighting in Egypt, Gallipoli, and France. The deceased was formerly in the 3rd Light Horse. His brother, Richard Templar is also fighting in France.
