Toop, Robert Daniel

 

 

Record ImageBorn 1894 Beckington, Somerset, England the son of Daniel Bartlett and Elizabeth Kate Toop (nee Franks) a farmer he enlisted Pontville Tasmania and embarked 22nd December 1914 on board “HMAT Ceramic” with the 15th Infantry Battalion.

 

He died 31st May 1915 on board “HMT Gascon” from a gunshot wound to the head  received in action on the Gallipoli Peninsula and was buried at sea.  He is commemorated on the The Lone Pine Memorial (Panel 50), Gallipoli, Turkey
