Trinder William George
Trooper William George Podmore Trinder, late of the 3rd Machinc-Gun Squadron, A I F Tasmania, who was wounded in action in Palestine, died recently at No 8 Australian General Hospital, Fremantle The deceased, who was in his 24th year, was the son of Mrs S Trinder, Hobart, and for some time served on HMAS Encounter. Anxious to go to the scene of hostilities, he joined the A I F. His remains were interred at Fremantle in the soldiers section of the Church of England portion of the cemetery, the service being conducted by the Rev H E Hyde. The military cortege was headed by a firing party and th Blackboy Hill Band. At the grave three volleys were fired and the "Last Post" was sounded by a bugler from the Encounter and one from the army in unison. Many returned soldiers and a party of blue jackets were present, and the pall bearers were his former shipmates. The Mercury 9th July 1918
