If you could spare a few dollars to help with the running costs of hosting this website to keep it alive would be very much appreciated.

Thankyou from Gravesites of Tasmania in advance.

TRUE, CHARLES THOMAS

The original grave of 58 Private (Pte) George Haviland True, 12th Battalion, killed in action on 20 May 1915, aged 19 years. Pte True's only brother, 1193 Pte Thomas Charles True, 26th Battalion, was killed in France on 29 July 1916, also aged 19 years.

The Rev. E. A. Salisbury of Ulverstone yesterday had the painful duty imposed upon him of informing Mr. T. C. True that his youngest son, Pte. C. T. True, 1st- Anzac Entrenching Battalion, had been killed in action on July 29. This young soldier was a member of the Riverstone Post Office staff and was promoted to the Hobart office, where he remained twelve months. He was then removed to Penguin, where he was stationed at the time of enlistment some sixteen months ago.  The case is a pathetic one, as at the beginning of the war Mr True had two promising young sons. The eldest Pte. G. H. True was killed shortly after landing af Gallipoli. Now he mourns the loss of his only remaining boy. It can be truly said that he has given all he had for the Empire.
