Turmine, Henry

Born Perth Tasmania the son of Jessie Turmine he embarked Melbourne 4^th August 1917 on board “HMAT Themistocles” with the 12^th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 23^rd August 1918 in France and is commemorated on the Heath Cemetery, Harbonnieres, Amiens Harbonnieres Area.

Military Medal

For conspicuous conduct during operations at Lihons on the 11^th August whilst a member of a fighting patrol. Pte Turmine showed great initiative and courage in crossing the rear of the enemy at Auger Wood recapturing 4 prisoners of the 10^th Battalion and killing their escort.
