Turnbull, George Andrew
Born 1893 Burnie Tasmania the son of Alexander and Sarah Ann Turnbull (nee Pease) a motor mechanic he embarked Melbourne 23rd September 1916 on board “HMAT Seang Choon” with the 40th Infantry Battalion. On the 13th October 1917 he was promoted to Vice Corporal and on the 2nd March 1918 he was promoted to Lance Sergeant. He was killed in action 28th March 1918 in France and is commemorated in the Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L'Abbe, Peronne, France. His brother Fred Herbert Turnbull was killed in action 5th August 1916 and like others with no known grave is commemorated in the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
