Vaughan, William
Ben (left) and Bill Vaughan Born 11th September 1888 Hobart Tasmania the son of William Henry and Georgina Rachel Vaughan (nee Propsting a farmer he embarked Melbourne 29th December 1915 on board “HMAT Demosthenes” with the 15th Infantry Battalion. Sgt Vaughan was killed in action 12th October 1916 in Belgium and is commemorated on the Ridge Wood Military Cemetery, Dickebusch, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium His brother Lt Ben Vaughan was killed in action 21st April 1918 and is commemorated in the Borre British Cemetery, Hazebrouck, Nord, France. Our Bruny correspondent writes: - "Mr. W. H. Vaughan of Thornbury, Lunawanna, has received information that his son, Sergeant William Vaughan, has fallen in France after five months'service in the firing line in Egypt and France. He was a fine young man. Another of Mr Vaughan sons is in the A.I.F.
