WADSLEY, LENNARD LEWIS

 

 

 

 

 

Lieutenant Lennard Lewis Wadsley, 52 Battalion, AIF, who on 3 September 1916 was killed in action during an attack on Mouquet Farm (Pozieres). Other biographical details concerning him are: orchardist; of Cygnet, Tasmania; born Moonah, Tasmania, 16 February 1890; educated at Friends High School; age at time of death, 26.

Mr W. Wadsley of Cygnet received word that his youngest son Lieutenant L. L. Wadsley has been missing since September 3 and that he is believed to have been killed. Lieutenant Wadsley left Tasmania in November 1915 in command of reinforcements for the 15th Battalion and after reaching Egypt was transferred to the 52nd Battalion. He was one of the best known young men in Cygnet, and the news was received with general regret.
