Wakefield, William Bertram
Born 29th August 1894 New Norfolk Tasmania to William and Eliza Ann Wakefield (nee Cordwell) a farmer he departed Melbourne 6th December 1916 on board “HMAT Orsova” with the 40th Infantry Battalion. He died 7th November 1918 in England from pneumonia and was buried in the Sutton Veny (St John) Churchyard, United Kingdom. Mr. W. Wakefield, of Lachlan has received official information that his son, Private William Bertram Wakefield has died of pneumonia in Sutton Veny Military Hospital. He enlisted in October, 1916, and saw much fighting in France, where he was wounded in September last. An in memoriam service is to be conducted in the Lachlan State-school on Sunday afternoon by the Rev. H. M. Knuckey. The Mercury 29th November 1918
